The narrator is a cat. This is not a children’s book.
File 001 starts in a room Pancake was not invited to. Humans take terrible minutes. They write unknown cause of death when they mean the lights did something ugly. They write Cole Michaels when they mean a twenty-eight-year-old federal employee who has not been twenty in a long time.
Sarah Hunter is nineteen, from Salem, and fits a dead man’s shopping list. Logan Carter is going undercover as a college wrestler because the Bureau needs a hole in Boston University. The profile said she lived alone. The profile was wrong about the alone part.
This is the first file in a series that will not fit in any official cabinet. The name on the badge is wrong. He kept the badge anyway. That is not character growth. That is logistics.
Recommended for readers 16 and up. Murder and investigation of young women; descriptions of the dead; strong language; occult and witchcraft themes; grief; and romantic themes. New Adult / Adult Fiction — Mystery.
